Obituary of Laura M. McCandless

Laura M. McCandless, age 88, of Collegeville, PA passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022.

She was born in Philadelphia, PA on December 3, 1933, the daughter of the late George and Laura (Reed) McLoughlin.

Laura lived in Upper Darby and Sharon Hill before moving to Collegeville in 2004.  She was a former parishioner of Holy Spirit Church in Sharon Hill and a current parishioner of St. Eleanor Church in Collegeville.  She was a proud graduate of West Catholic High School for Girls, Class of 1951.  She was a member of the Companions of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, a prayer and reflection group at Camilla Hall in Immaculata, PA.  She loved to bake pies and cookies.  Her crocheted blankets are treasured by many.  She also enjoyed going to lunch with friends and family.                                  

She was the wife of the late William J. McCandless.

She is survived by her daughter, Laura (the late Percy) Green of Upper Chichester; daughter, Jeanne McCandless of Wallingford; son, Jack (Joanne) McCandless of Downingtown; and daughter, Madeline (Robert) Badolato of Collegeville, PA.  Laura is also survived by six grandchildren, Peter (Martha) Green, Thomas Green (Stacey Thomas), Michelle (Mike) Norris, Kristen (Dave) Ciavarelli, Lauren (Nick) Pepi, and Robert Badolato, Jr. (Elizabeth Powell); as well as six great grandchildren, Stephanie, Nathan, Sonia, Arabella, Jack, and Finn. As well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Regina Soderberg, George McLoughlin, Stephen McLoughlin, Edward McLoughlin and Delia Smith. 

Her Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 11:00 AM in St. Eleanor's RC Church, 647 Locust Street, Collegeville, PA 19426.  Relatives and friends may call on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Church. 

Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA.
